When She Stepped Into The Light

She stepped out into the light

And the moment it touched her skin

She felt alive

And renewed

And restored.

She stepped into the light

And the sun was like

Bread to a starving man

So nourishing and filling

And so long-awaited.

She stepped out into the light

And her skin felt like

A rising daisy in the spring,

Brought to life

Under the shine of the light.

She stepped out into the light

And felt warmth like

She’d never known before,

The type of warmth

She’d always wanted in his embrace.

She stepped out into the light

And it felt like heaven

So peaceful and bright.

She stepped out into the light

And she knew

She was finally free

She knew that she could be herself

Whole and complete

In the brightness of the light.
